The process of getting an IRD for a new baby has been simplified.  You can now apply for an IRD number for a child when you register the birth with the Department of Internal Affairs.  It’s as simple as ticking a box on the birth registration form to confirm that you would like an IRD number for the child.  You need an IRD number for your children to be able to receive Working for Families Tax Credits.
