Just in case you didn’t know.  Back in October 2012 “Our Hilary” went over to the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii for the second time.  Having come third in her age group (30-34) in 2011 Hilary moved up an age group and was looking to go better.  Go better she did!  Hilary not only won the 35-39 age group but she was the first age group athlete to cross the line – making her a World Champion.

So when it came to the members of NZ Triathlon voting for their World Champs athlete of the year, they sensibly voted for Hilary.

As I write, Hilary is off to run the Christchurch marathon this weekend and something makes me think she will be trying to go close to  if not under 3 hours.  The question is: will she beat her Ultra Marathon running husband……watch this space!
